The issue of traffic engineering is based on:

  • road traffic safety in terms of road designing
  • safety concepts for transport policy

The experienced team of transport engineers offers to provide road safety audits, inspections, and assessments. Their activities also concern a production of technical specifications for road signing and road facilities, and production of road sample sheets (Road equipment – VL6). Another significant activity is traffic calming – in 2009 the department produced e.g. TP 218 (Designing "Zones 30").

Another crucial activity is the analysis of road accident data and accident localities, including their rehabilitation. The department developed a unique technology to perform precise localization, evidence, and visualization of road traffic accidents with the use of GPS and GIS technologies. A technology based on the principle of a floating vehicle and wireless radar units and video devices was developed to provide the evidence of road equipment and facilities, speed measurement, and monitoring traffic engineering features.
