Air quality

Research projects and orders related to the issue of transport impacts on air quality focus on determination of various monitored pollutant concentrations in air samples and impacts of this pollution on the quality of the environment and human health. The obtained findings are used for designing of potential solutions to improve the environment conditions.

We use the following equipment to find solutions in these fields:

  • we particularly use medium volume pumps Leckel MVS 6 and SEQ 47/50, high-volume pumps PS-1 and small-volume pumps Aircheck 2000 for taking samples and determining concentrations of particulate matter (PM);
  • we have a balance room with microbalances MX5/A for determining mass concentrations of PM;
  • in order to determine PM size distribution, we use a device EnvironCheck 107, which allows monitoring of the number of particles with dimension from 0.2 µm to 30 µm, as well as simultaneous determination of mass concentrations PM1.0, PM2.5 a PM10;
  • a device ELPI + allows to determine concentrations of particulate matter in a size interval 6 nm to 10 µm including sample taking of 14 size fractions in the mentioned, i.e. including nanoparticles;
  • koncentrace těkavých organických látek (benzen, toluen, ethylbenzen, xyleny, 1,3-butadien) v ovzduší určujeme analyzátorem VOC71M-PID;
  • we measure gas pollutants in the air (CO, O3, SO2, H2S, nitrogen oxides, CO2 hydrocarbons) with a compact system Airpointer® for air quality measurement;
  • we perform monitoring of meteorological indicators (temperature, humidity, direction and speed of wind) with the use of portable weather stations equipped with sensors Gill Instruments Limited, these parameters are also measured with Airpointer®;
  • we assess morphology of particulate matter including element composition of individual particles with the use of SEM Vega LSU II in connection with EDX Quantax 200.
